Liposuction

What Is Liposuction?

Liposuction is a surgical procedure designed to remove stubborn pockets of fat and refine body contours in areas that do not respond well to diet and exercise. Using small, carefully placed incisions, targeted fat is gently removed to create a smoother, more proportionate shape. Liposuction is a contouring procedure, not a weight-loss solution. It is often used to sculpt the abdomen, waist, flanks, back, arms, thighs, and neck/under the chin, and it can be performed on its own or combined with other procedures to enhance overall balance.

In select patients, Dr. Cheng is able to offer high-definition liposuction. This advanced approach is designed to create a more athletic, sculpted appearance by strategically removing fat around natural anatomical contours to better highlight underlying definition. Dr. Cheng refined his technique in high-definition liposuction under the direct guidance of Dr. David Sieber of internationally acclaimed Sieber Plastic Surgery, and applies a meticulous, patient-specific approach to determine when high-definition contouring is appropriate and how to keep results appearing natural.

What Are the Benefits of Liposuction?

Liposuction offers a precise, tailored approach to improving body shape while maintaining a natural look. Benefits may include:

  • Targeted reduction of stubborn fat in specific areas

  • Improved contour and definition, with clothing often fitting more comfortably

  • Enhanced body proportions and a more streamlined silhouette

  • Long-lasting results when paired with a stable weight and healthy lifestyle

  • The ability to complement other procedures, such as tummy tuck or body contouring, for a more comprehensive result

The aim is refinement, not exaggeration; just subtle, elegant shaping that looks like you, just more defined.

Who Are Candidates for Liposuction?

You may be a good candidate for liposuction if you are close to your goal weight but have localized fat deposits that persist despite healthy habits. Ideal candidates often:

  • Are at a stable weight with good overall health

  • Have good skin quality and elasticity for smooth contouring

  • Want targeted shaping rather than overall weight reduction

  • Understand that liposuction improves contour, but does not tighten significant loose skin

Liposuction may not be the best option if the primary concern is significant skin laxity or if weight loss is the main goal. During your consultation, Dr. Cheng will evaluate your anatomy, skin quality, and goals and, when appropriate, discuss alternative or complementary options to achieve the most natural, refined outcome.
